SHADOW GOVERNMENT 101: SAVING DEMOCRACY
COLLABORATION BETWEEN STATES TO PROVIDE FUNDING AND SERVICES DENIED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

May 6, 2026
As consolidation, layoffs, and deference to power continue to hollow out the corporate media, Jon is joined by Amy Goodman, host and executive producer of “Democracy Now!” and subject of the new documentary "STEAL THIS STORY, PLEASE!"
Together, they examine which stories get told and why, discuss the bargain the media makes in trading truth for access, and explore the power ordinary people still possess to organize and fight back — even as attacks on our democracy intensify.

Xfinity Presentation
New Cable-TV & Internet-WiFi Services
At Arrowhead Gardens

Audio recording is from 9-17-2029
In the B Community Room

Q&A starts at 9 minutes
You also play the audio recording on Dropbox
  1. Current Combo (Cable + Internet) Subscribers: Automatically upgraded at no change in cost — still $65/month, payable with rent. Other addon features will be paid to Comcast by you.
  2. Cable-Only or Internet-Only Subscribers: ➡ You must switch to the new combined package. Please sign up with your on-site management team.
  3. If you want Premium Channels or Faster Speeds, contact Comcast directly to customize your service.
  4. Xfinity Internet Essentials is NOT part of the package.
  5. An installation schedule will be provided in advance.
  6. There will be 48-hour notice.
  7. Installations will take about 2 days per building.
  8. You can opt in or out at any time -> notify the office. You should have already received an office form to Opt In/Out at your apartment.
  9. New Xfinity Gateway combines and replaces both your cable box and your router/modem and will be attached to the wall -- furniture needs to be moved away from wall. The existing white boxes on the walls will be removed and replaced with the gateways.
  10. Gateways are provided at no charge.
  11. Gateways will be mounted on the wall where there are wall coax connections & AC power outlets. Move furniture away from the wall.
  12. Gateways have 2 ethernet jacks.
  13. Connection from the Gateway to your TV will be with an HDMI cable, not a coax cable.
  14. Installers will be accompanied by office personnel.
  15. Fees are prorated based on time of installation.
  16. Bulk Account phone number will remain the same.
  17. Installations will not affect neighbors' apartments.
  18. You can NOT subscribe to AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon for Internet access over Xfinity equipment. (Check with your preferred cellular provider for their 5G Home Internet Plans. Here is the one for T-Mobile. Caveat: 5G has not been fully deployed in our vicinity.)
  19. Installations start at the end of September 2025.
  20. For more information, contact the Arrowhead Gardens Office

Arrowhead Residents Met with the Community Manager
and Saela Pest Control Contractors on 8-25-2025

Separate audio recordings are on Dropbox
Recordings were edited to remove off-mic stretches and various distractions.
Audio recording of presentation by 'TJ', Community Manager

Meeting was held 12:15pm to 1pm in a packed B Building Community Room.

TJ gave responses to three written concerns submitted by residents: 1) Garbage & trash accumulation; 2) Old furniture in common areas; 3) Bedbug treatments. Part of the problem with garbage accumulation is SPU has missed scheduled pickups. Another problem is parked vehicles blocking the dumpsters on Meyers Way South. (If you see vehicles blocking dumpsters, report it with Find It, Fix It mobile app and notify the office.)

TJ took questions from residents for the remainder of the hour on a wide range of issues.

Submit your concerns with the Community Cards located in the B Building lobby. Deposit cards in the rent deposit box to the left of the B Building entrance. TJ will choose three issues for the next manager presentation to be held in October.

Audio recording of presentation by Saela Pest Control Contractors

Dennis -- Saela entomologist -- gave an in-depth description of the life cycles and habits of bedbugs and cockroaches; how to avoid infestation; and what to expect with the treatment procedures. Next, Dennis and Scot answered several lengthy questions from residents. The meeting ran from 1pm to 3pm.

Projected Medicare Sequestration - $490 billion over the next ten years, starting in the next fiscal year that begins in October.
Because of a statutory requirement to automatically impose budget cuts when legislation increases the deficit, the Big Beautiful Bill would require automatic sequestration cuts across the board, something that has been confirmed by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) but has been largely absent from the debate over the bill. Medicare is one of the programs that will face the axe, and the damage sums to $490 billion over the next ten years, starting in the next fiscal year that begins in October. While many of the safety-net cuts in the bill are delayed to help Republicans with their re-election campaigns, the Medicare cuts must begin next year.

Pramila Jayapal started by explaining how Project 2025 would adversely impact seniors on Medicare and Social Security; and would degrade the integrity and functions of the federal government. She covered several other topics and had a brief Q&A.
