Cable Connectors and Adapters
PDA and mobile phone audio plug standards Wikipedia Three- or four-conductor (TRS or TRRS) 2.5 mm and 3.5 mm sockets are common on cell phones, providing mono (three conductor) or stereo (four conductor) sound and a microphone input, together with signaling (e.g., push a button to answer a call). Three-conductor 2.5 mm connectors are particularly common on older phones, while four-conductor 3.5 mm connectors are more common on newer smartphones. These are used both for handsfree headsets (esp. mono audio plus mic, also stereo audio plus mic, plus signaling for call handling) and for (stereo) headphones (stereo audio, no mic). Wireless (connectorless) headsets or headphones usually use the Bluetooth protocol. TRRS Standards

DEFINITIONS AND GLOSSARIES
DEFINITIONS OF AUDIO AND PODCAST TERMINOLOGY
DBFS is "decibels below full scale". Measurment on a VU meters. (as opposed to LUs an LUFS meter.)
Dynamic range compression (DRC) or simply compression is a signal processing operation that reduces the volume of loud sounds or amplifies quiet sounds by narrowing or compressing an audio signal's dynamic range.
LKFS and LUFS are pretty much "the same", except they are terms used by different standards groups. "Loudness, K-scale, below full scale" and "Loudness Units below full scale". Both are in db increments, and when the same measurement process is used, the result is the same. For instance -23LKFS equals -23LUFS.
Loudness meter. No portable recorders currently implement loudness meters, so there is not yet a loudness solution for recording in the field. But that’s okay — you’ll want to make loudness adjustments when it comes time to mix anyway. Record at a comfortable level, and after you import the files you can actively mix with a loudness meter. If you have access to loudness normalization, you could quickly process your audio to -24 LUFS before mixing.
LU, or loudness unit, is equivalent to one db.
LUFS level, meaning Loudness Units relative to Full Scale. Video.
.
Short Term measurement for mixing. It is an average of a rolling 3-second time window, usually displayed as a number, and it works really nicely with the pace of speech. Mix voices to -24 LUFS on the Short Term meter.
