Procedures for disposing of garbage and unwanted items.

Garbage-Waste Disposal Instructions

A Building garbage chutes are located ___________
C Building garbage chutes are located ___________
D Buildings garbage chutes are located in small rooms next to the elevator on each floor.

Garbage-waste are materials that can't be recycled or composted.

Garbage-waste bags should be sealed before disposal.
Limit bag size to kitchen-sized bags and don't over-stuff the bags.
Use the chute on your floor to drop your bagged waste.
If the chute is backed up, don't leave your bag in garbage-chute room.
Do not put boxes or large items in the chutes. They will get stuck and cause backup.
If you have waste that can't be disposed in the garbage chute, locate a garbage-waste dumpster in your parking garage.
Do not use the Recycle Dumpsters for garbage-waste or for furniture and electronics.

Ribbons, Bows, and Metallic Gift Wrap
Prescription Vials
Hygiene Products
Diapers and Pet Waste
Empty Toxic Materials Containers (eg Bleach bottles)
Ceramics and Glassware (unuseable)
Kitchen Fats, Oils and Grease (in a secure container)
Paint Cans (empty, dry & lid off)
Small Household Appliances (eg hair dryer)

Compost Instructions

Dump compost material directly from carry-containers into the Compost Bin.
Do not put plastic bags in the Compost Bins.
Compost Bins are taken to the curb for pickup on these days_________

Food-Soiled Paper
Uncoated Paper Plates and Take-out Containers
Paper Tea Bags and Sweetners
Coffee Grounds and Filters
Greasy Pizza Boxes
Wooden Chopsticks
Yard Waste
Shredded Paper
Food can be dumped directly into the recycle bin
No Plastic Bags. No Plastic. No Metal. No Glass. No Pet Waste

Break down cardboard boxes before disposal.
Compost Bins are taken to the curb for pickup on these days_________

Clean Cans & Bottles
Empty Cups * Cartons
Clean Plastic Containers and Lids
Clean Dry Papers
Flattened Cardboard Boxes
Lids 3 inches or wider
Pill Bottles (no prescription vials)
Clean foil and foil trays
Paper Bags
No Food, Liquids, or Plastic Bags​

Disposal of Large Items & Electronics

Some items must be disposed of by special arrangements.
Contact the business office to find out when there will a scheduled pickup.
If you are disposing of large furniture items, the vendor will remove them from your apartment.
Items like electronics can be taken to the pickup vehicle.
There is a fee for disposing of your large items.

Take your alkaline batteries to food bank and put them in the red cannister next to check-in desk.
